A Foundation Apprenticeship is a Level 2 programme designed to help you take your first steps into an exciting and varied career, where no two days are the same.
On completion, you will receive a digital Hospitality Skills Passport – a verified badge of excellence, backed by UKHospitality.
On a Foundation Apprenticeship in Catering and Hospitality, you’ll learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to succeed in a real working environment while earning and gaining valuable experience.
You’ll develop key employability skills such as teamwork, communication and professionalism, alongside technical skills like food preparation,
customer service, and health and safety.
Your day-to-day duties will vary, giving you a broad understanding of the industry and how to deliver high-quality hospitality services, helping to
prepare you for an exciting career in the sector.
Specifically designed for: Young people aged 16–21.*
*16-24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are a care/prison leavers
The minimum duration of this apprenticeship is 8 months
The next step after completing this Foundation Apprenticeship is one of the following Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship programmes: Level 2: Hospitality Customer Service Practitioner, Hospitality Accommodation Team Member, Food & Beverage Team Member, Production Chef, Commis Chef Level 3: Hospitality Supervisor, Senior Production Chef, Pastry Chef, Chef de Partie.
The cost of your apprenticeship is fully covered, with funding arranged through your employer. The value of this apprenticeship is £3,500.
Employers can receive up to £2,000 per apprentice, which is paid in instalments as outlined below:
Level 2
HIT Training assigns a designated Vocational Trainer to each apprentice. Alongside the apprentice they will agree on a personal learning and development plan, setting a timetable of learning activities in preparation for the End Point Assessment (EPA).
The HIT Vocational Trainer will meet with the apprentice regularly either online or face to face to complete and review assessments, provide further coaching where required and agree the next steps of learning.
